A good friend of mine called me last week and asked if I would be able to help him out with something. This man is quite a cool dude, in fact he really is a phenomenal person.
He has a group of companies that deal in the investment and finance sector. He has recently decided to create a product that would help other people understand this topic better and he wants to become a public speaker and teach on this topic. Now this man really does not need to do this, he is incredibly wealthy, already has a large organization in fact he has been on the BRW Fast 100 for many years.
However he decided that he really wanted to communicate a message to people about abundance and how to create it. So he called me up and asked if I could listen to his presentation, give him some pointers and help him out a little. I was absolutely more than happy to as I feel this person has taught me some important things and given me opportunities in the past.
So I popped over to his office to hear him do a presentation. Now I have to say that professionally and technically it really wasn’t very good. He was coming from the right place and had the right intention but that was about it. We sat with a team of us -it wasn’t just me giving pointers - and we came up with ideas, suggestions, role played it, went through it again and again. He then tried it again and it was like listening to a different person. It really was quite phenomenal and it was amazing to watch. When I had arrived it was a mess and I was now looking at a professional speaker who seemed like they had done this presentation many time over and knew his stuff.
The thing that stood out for me was that a complete transformation had taken place in an hour because he just did it, he was scared and worried and nervous but he just bulldozed through and did it, and did it, and did it until he owned it.
I thought this was an interesting analogy for many things in life. It is so easy to not do things, put them off or to think that it takes a long time to achieve a certain result or get to a certain place. It just doesn’t. If you are doing something with the right purpose, the right intention and you are really coming from integrity then you couple this with some determinism and perserverence and transformation really can happen instantly and thats exactly what I saw.
Cheers, Carly
